Rent the Library
Looking for a unique space for a meeting, workshop, reception, party, or community event? The Commerce Public Library offers several spaces for after-hours rentals, from our historic atrium to meeting and craft space, outdoor patio and gazebo, or the full library. Rental options are available for community organizations, businesses, groups, and private events. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be made up to six months in advance.

The Commerce Public Library is more than a place for books—we are a community gathering place. Our historic building offers flexible spaces for meetings, workshops, celebrations, receptions, classes, nonprofit events, and other gatherings.
Available spaces include the Atrium, Upstairs Meeting/Craft Room, Library Patio and Gazebo, or the entire library. Maximum event attendance is 100 people.
Available Rental Spaces
Atrium – Main Floor
A distinctive space for receptions, gatherings, presentations, and medium-sized events.
- Community nonprofit groups: $100 / 2 hours
- Public or private events: $175 / 2 hours
- Additional time: $60/hour
Entire Library – Main Floor & Upstairs
Best for larger events or activities that need multiple spaces.
- Community nonprofit groups: $175 / 2 hours
- Public or private events: $250 / 2 hours
- Additional time: $85/hour
- Refundable damage deposit: $250
Upstairs Meeting / Craft Room
Ideal for smaller parties, meetings, workshops, classes, and craft activities.
- Community nonprofit groups: $100 / 2 hours
- Public or private events: $150 / 2 hours
- Additional time: $50/hour
Library Patio & Gazebo
An outdoor option for gatherings and activities, weather permitting.
- Community nonprofit groups: $50 / 2 hours
- Public or private events: $100 / 2 hours
- Additional time: $35/hour
After-hours rentals require a two-hour minimum.
Additional Fees
For indoor after-hours rentals, a library staff member must be present.
Required library staff: $15/hour, two-hour minimum
Optional setup/breakdown assistance: $20/hour
When Can I Rent the Library?
After-hours reservation times are generally available:
Thursdays: 5:00–7:00 PM
Saturdays: 3:00–5:00 PM
Sundays: 2:00–4:00 PM
Other times may be approved by the Library Director. Reservations may be requested up to six months in advance and are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Setup and cleanup time should be included in your reservation.
Food, Decorations & Activities
Food and beverages may be permitted, but the library does not have kitchen facilities. Food must be prepared off-site, and cooking, heating appliances, and open flames are not permitted inside the building. Food is limited to the upstairs area or the main-floor terrazzo area. Alcohol and outdoor grilling require prior approval.
Some events require an additional risk assessment, including events involving:
- More than 50 attendees
- Food or beverages
- Minors
- Vendors or caterers
- Sales or fundraising
- Animals
- Outdoor activities or grilling
- Amplified sound
Cleanup
Renters are responsible for returning the space to its original condition, including wiping tables and chairs, sweeping floors, cleaning hard surfaces, removing decorations and materials, and taking trash to the dumpster. Groups are responsible for damages or excessive cleaning costs.
