Commerce Public Library's Adult Literacy Program connects adults with free learning opportunities designed to build confidence, strengthen everyday skills, prepare for educational goals, and support lifelong learning.

Whether you want to improve your English, prepare for the GED, become more comfortable using a computer, or strengthen your financial skills, we’re here to help.

ESL – English as a Second Language

Wednesdays | 5:00–7:00 PM
Location: Aracelli's Salon
Instructor: Vicky Peterson

Practice speaking, reading, and understanding English in a welcoming and supportive environment. ESL instruction is designed for adult English-language learners at a variety of skill levels.

GED Tutoring

Tuesdays | 5:00–7:00 PM
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

Free GED tutoring is available for adults preparing for the GED exam. Get help strengthening skills, working through study materials, and preparing for GED subject tests.

Spanish GED Prep / Preparación para el GED en Español

Tuesdays | 5:00–7:00 PM

Preparación gratuita para adultos que desean estudiar para el examen GED en español.

Computer Literacy

Fourth Tuesday of each month | 5:30–7:00 PM
Location: Commerce Public Library
Instructor: Jesse Worley

Build practical computer skills in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. Topics may include computer basics, internet and email, online safety, common software, smartphones, and other everyday technology skills.

No previous computer experience is required.

Financial Literacy

Third Tuesday of each month | 3:00 PM
Location: Commerce Public Library
Instructor: Ruth Butz

Learn practical skills for managing your finances and making informed financial decisions. Topics may include budgeting, banking, credit, saving, understanding financial documents, and other money-management basics.

GED Testing & Online Learning Resources

GED Testing

For information about registering for and taking the GED exam, visit the GED Testing Service website. The site includes information about testing, preparation materials, tutorials, and available testing options.

LearningExpress Library

Library users also have access to LearningExpress Library through TexShare, with online practice tests, tutorials, eBooks, and skill-building resources for school, work, and everyday life.
